【Summary Description】

On March 6, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs held a meeting to deploy livestock and veterinary work. The meeting focused on thoroughly studying and implementing the spirit of the Central Rural Work Conference and the National Conference of Directors of Agricultural and Rural Affairs Departments, and laid out key tasks including preventing and controlling African swine fever, stabilizing pig production, promoting the resource utilization of livestock and poultry manure, revitalizing the dairy industry, and strengthening quality and safety supervision. Vice Minister Yu Kangzhen of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting emphasized that, to consolidate the positive momentum in agricultural and rural development and safeguard the fundamental foundation of “agriculture, rural areas, and farmers” development, animal husbandry and veterinary work bears a heavy responsibility and faces daunting tasks. All relevant units within the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs must firmly uphold the “Four Confidences,” strengthen the “Four Consciousnesses,” and resolutely practice the “Two Upholds.” They should focus on implementing the rural revitalization strategy, aiming at “improving supply, enhancing safety, and protecting the ecological environment,” with particular emphasis on stabilizing hog production, boosting the dairy industry, preventing and controlling animal diseases, reducing veterinary drug use, addressing manure pollution, and adjusting industrial structures. By uniting and pooling resources from all sectors, we must wage a tough battle against African swine fever, deepen structural reforms on the supply side of animal husbandry, accelerate the transformation of animal husbandry development models, and steadily enhance the comprehensive productivity and core competitiveness of the animal husbandry sector.
The meeting called for closely integrating all livestock and veterinary work with the fight against poverty, further elevating political awareness, strengthening organizational leadership, and making every effort to successfully complete the specific tasks assigned, thereby better leveraging the role of animal husbandry in supporting poverty alleviation efforts.
The meeting was chaired by Ma Youxiang, Chief Veterinary Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
